Disaster Relief

Suddenly,

The earthquake begins.

Tragic,

but not long enough.

Painful,

but not for all.

Suddenly,

it stops.

Then,

it shakes again.

The same mistake again.

Lives lost.

Lost Again

"Disaster Relief" is a poem about the fleeting nature of our concern for the world around us. While it was inspired by our reaction to gun violence, it relates to most any systemic issue in our society today.
