OCSA
Kaya Sparnitch
Kaya Sparnicht is the Youth Ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a junior at the Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana, CA. She is a Get Lit Player, a member of her school’s slam team, and has competed in OC RYSE and the Get Lit Classic Slam. She is the vice-president of her school’s Thespian troupe and loves acting, directing, comedy, Gilmore Girls, guacamole, and walking her two dogs, Bailey and Bogey.

Rancocas Valley Regional High School
Shreya Daji
Shreya Daji is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a sophomore at Rancocas Valley Regional High School. She loves writing in all forms, from writing articles for her school newspaper to writing her novel. When she isn’t writing, she loves to spend her free time reading, drawing, and watching rom-coms anytime she can.

South County High School
Sophia Baum
Sophia Baum is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a junior at South County High School and spends her free time working as a historian for her school’s Xanthus Literary Magazine and writing short stories full of whimsy. She has a love for cultural poetry, and learning about other’s experiences through their writing. Outside of writing, she enjoys watching mystery movies and drawing.

Avery County High School
Mia Mattern
Mia Mattern is a Literary Editor for Poetry4Progress. She is an Avery County High School senior in Western North Carolina. Her passion for environmental conservation drives her involvement in the school's Environmental Club and her participation in the North Carolina Envirothon competition. Complementing her commitment to the environment is her engagement with the Science Olympiad, where she explores diverse scientific disciplines. Beyond academics, Mia thrives as an avid hiker, biker, and reader, reveling in the natural beauty of her region while deepening her environmental insights through literature. With a holistic approach to her passions, Mia is hopeful to make a positive impact in her community and contribute to the preservation of our planet's precious resources

Isa Mcarthy
Isa McCarthy is a literary editor here at Poetry4Progress. Isa is also an editor for her school’s newspaper, and the co-founder/president of her school’s Poetry Club! She is currently a junior in high school, residing in New York (just the state, not the city!) Outside of school, she enjoys reading books, attending concerts, and watching horror movies. She has always been passionate about words and writing, so Isa is beyond ecstatic to be a member of this team and to read all of the wonderful pieces submitted by you!

Ramon C. Cortines School
Andrew Blamblett
Andrew Bramblett is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. He is a freshman in the music academy of the Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts. Andrew is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and poet! Most of his poetry comes in the form of lyrics for his original music. He uses poetry in his songs as a way to heal and express himself. Andrew loves listening to music, jamming with his friends, and hanging out with his two dogs, Barkley and Chester.

Surya Khatibi (Rome) is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. They go to the International School of Los Angeles / Lycée International. They are currently in 10th grade in the IB program and run their schools poetry club.

Pacifica Christian High School
Aurora Malerba
Aurora Malerba is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She grew up in Los Angeles, California. She is a passionate reader, obsessive writer and avid drummer. Aurora can be found discussing classic literature and The Phantom of the Opera in her free time, as well as working on her book Jess and Rose. Her writing explores identity, passion, girlhood, art, and more.

Maggie Rodas
Maggie Rodas is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a senior at Castro Valley High School and she enjoys having talks with the universe, reading and writing poems, talking to her best friend, making people feel safe, and knowing that there's good in the world :).

The Archer School For
Selah Johnson
Selah Johnson is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a student at The Archer School for Girls located in Los Angeles. She is a student council member, Black Student Union leader, Dance Company member, and a member of the Artemis Board for Activism and Civic Engagement. Outside of school, she is a board member of Private School Village and DemoraShe. Selah loves to combine her passion for the arts with her love for activism.

Los Altos High School
Erin Jesensky
Erin is a youth ambassador for poetry4progress. She is a freshman at Los Altos High School. She loves to read and write. Fiction, romance, and fantasy novels are her favorites. Poetry gives her a lot of joy to write (also read). She joined the poetry club at her school and hopes to do more poetry work. Next, she enjoys singing just about anything. She also plays basketball and dances (ballet) everyday!

Classical High School
Sadie Jackson
Sadie Jackson is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She attends Classical High School in Providence, Rhode Island. In January, she was named the Deputy Youth Poetry Ambassador of RI. In her spare time, she loves drawing portraits, photographing nearly everything around her, and falling into the collections of Pablo Neruda and Mary Oliver. Her own poems are primarily narrative—exploring a range of interpersonal relationships within our ever-evolving world.

New Rochelle High Shcool
Harmony Hopwood
Harmony Hopwood is a New Rochelle High school student, passionate poet and the Youth Poet Laureate of Westchester County. Hopwood’s passion in poetry and literature has lived strong since her childhood. She enjoys nothing more than using her voice through poetry, she feels it makes her powerful. Hopwood has strong ties to her Mexican and African American heritage and often pulls from that heritage in her poetry, giving her that platform to explore language, literature and activism. The idea of letting people into the Innermost parts of her brain, her ideas about feminism, culture and many other current issues makes poetry a resource for power. She always had a visceral desire to be phenomenal, poetry makes me feel like she is getting closer to who she needs to be.She believes that literature and poetry can help the youth feel powerful in their voice as it has done for her. She is vice president of the poetry club at her school, a member of NAACP youth council, a NRCA youth advisory board member and a regional ACT-SO gold medalist.

Concord Academy
Audrey Wu
Audrey Wu is a high school student from Cambridge, Massachusetts. For Audrey, writing serves as a coping mechanism and she focuses on writing poetry to heal. In addition to editing for a variety of literary magazines, she has attended the Kenyon Review Young Writers workshop, Iowa Young Writers Studio, Grubstreet’s Young Adult Writer’s program, and Northwestern Creative Writing for Talent Development among others. Outside of writing, Audrey enjoys good music, comfort food, and looking for the silver linings in life.

Washington High School
Yamini Jain
Yamini Jain is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a senior at Washington High School (Fremont, CA). She has been writing poetry since she was a freshman, and she is an inaugural Youth Poet Laureate for Alameda County (2022-23). She has also competed in slam poetry and was a Finalist for the Youth Speaks Bay Area Teen Poetry Slam (2022&2023). Outside of writing, she loves playing sports and experimenting in the kitchen!

Jackie Olano
Jackie Olano is an editor at Poetry4Progress. She is also the captain of her high school's Slam poetry team. This is her second year serving as her grade's elected student representative at Larchmont Charter High school. She is a member of her school's debate team as well as part of the school wide Site council and leadership.

Edgemont High School
Asa Miller
Asa Miller is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. He is first the first Youth Poet Laureate of Greenburgh, New York, and a junior at Edgemont Jr./Sr. High School in Scarsdale. Asa plays lacrosse for Edgemont’s varsity team, the club team True Lacrosse Westchester, and Israel’s national U18 team. He is an award-winning classical pianist who has performed at several international venues. An experienced scuba diver, Asa founded Edgemont’s marine biology club. His short documentary about helping to restore coral reefs in Cuba has screened at dozens of film festivals around the world..

Inioluwa Orimalade is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a freshman at Paulding County High School. She used to have trouble expressing how she felt, but soon she found a healthy way to express how her emotions using poetry as that medium. Because of this, she is trying to help others use it too ..

Orange County School of the Arts
Asmi Aggarwal
Asmi Aggarwal is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. She is a freshman at the Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana, California in the Classical Voice Conservatory. She loves anything related to the arts and is an avid participant in her school's Model UN team as well as the vice president for the National History Day club. Asmi enjoys playing various instruments, singing, watching musicals, drawing, reading, and writing poetry. She is also currently working on writing a poetry book of her own. Literature helps Asmi better express her emotions and provides her with a creative outlet to release any stress or opinions about topics she is passionate about. She is inspired by writers such as Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath and centers her poetry around abstract topics dealing with nature, emotions, experiences, and identity. When not writing, Asmi loves to spend time with her pet tortoise, Snickers :)

Díno is a literary editor for Poetry4Progress. They are 16yr old who attends Manchester Memorial highschool. They are president of book club, historian of link crew & best buddies and secretary for art club. They love to do art poetry

Sutter Middle School
Sam Davies
Sam Davies is a youth ambassador for Poetry4Progress. He is an eight grader at Sutter Middle School. He is obsessed with all things theater. When he is not at rehearsal he enjoys writing poetry and having philosophical debates with his oldest brother. His biggest hobby is volunteering around his community, though he finds time to sing and write whenever given a spare second!

Philippines
Martina Arana
Martina Leila P. Arana is from the Philippines, and is currently in 11th grade studying Pre-Science Stem . She has been an active journalist since the 4th grade joining regional competitions, writing feature articles. She has experiences with working as a section editor for the editorial column of my previous school’s publication, and right now she is part of her current school’s publication writing for the literary section. In addition to that, she is a student leader, having experienced being part of the Student Council. Writing is a very big part of her life, and it is something that brings her joy, more so when she can use it as a voice to amplify those who are voiceless. In line with that, outside of writing she enjoys admiring art, reading books from all sorts of genre, and watching animated films and series.
